The Crutches
A whole state, where life runs smoothly, gets upset when their beloved King gets seriously injured. Therapists of every kind from all over the world rush to save his life and ‘succeed’, at the expense, however, of his permanent disability and the obligation to move only with the help of crutches. Then the king gives the order: “Everyone must walk with crutches otherwise be sentenced to death”. The people of the country react, they are oppressed hard, they get subjugated and eventually fully integrate the orders in their way of life. Thus, after some time no one walks like they did before. But when one day the king dies, a foreigner who still walks without crutches appears and motivates people to do the same. Only a group of young children will believe in him and get him to teach them to walk. And this group will ultimately provide the country with a unique opportunity to face the old law in a fight to the bitter end.

A funny silent comedy to the accompaniment of live piano music. Art Vouveau Theatre Company is influenced by the drama techniques used in american silent films (see Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton), as well as those of slapstick comedy. Six actors and one musician tell the story on stage without using any words.
